WhisperDesk

v1.4.2BetaMITGPU · Vulkan

Local, GPU-accelerated transcription for Windows. Transcribe files and live audio, identify who said what, and export to every format you need — nothing ever leaves your PC.

  • Files & folders — drag & drop, queue, Whisper models Tiny → Large-v3 (Turbo recommended)
  • Speaker identification — every line tagged with time and speaker, auto speaker count

> What's new in 1.4 v1.4.2

  • New install folder (1.4.2) — installs to C:\Program Files\DarkCipher Systems\WhisperDesk. Upgrading moves it from the old C:\Program Files\WhisperDesk automatically; your data is untouched.
  • Open source (1.4.1) — now MIT-licensed, shown on the launch screen, in Help → About and in the installer.
  • Stability on long jobs — the window never blocks; new Performance mode (Light / Balanced / Maximum) keeps your PC usable while it works, and the PC stays awake during jobs.
  • Accuracy — Skip silence sends only speech to Whisper; a hallucination filter drops invented "Thank you." lines and repeat loops; smarter speaker detection merges look-alikes.
  • Custom models — import any whisper.cpp GGML model (fine-tuned, distilled, quantised, language-specific).
  • Live feed window — a clean, chat-style read-only feed with speaker colours; snap, full screen, always on top.
  • OBS overlays — three looks: darkcipher0x terminal, stacked chat and classic subtitles.
  • Reports on many recordings — combined or separate reports with participation, keyword hits, edit log, SHA-256 integrity and an optional local-AI consolidated report.
  • Voice & audio analysis — voice profiles, voice comparison and audio integrity checks (metadata, clipping, digital silence, mains hum / ENF).
  • Encrypted backups — library, voices, settings and add-ons, optionally AES-256-GCM encrypted, verified on restore.
  • Summary transparency — every AI summary records which model wrote it, where it ran and how long it took.
  • Library, sharing & scheduling — folder tree with drag and drop, re-transcribe, overnight scheduling, and the Windows share sheet.
  • Installer — upgrade / repair / remove detection, optional FFmpeg and Ollama via winget, and per-item data removal on uninstall.

CaseKeeper

v0.2.1BetaMITEngland & Wales

A private Windows app for organising family court papers: documents, parties, a timeline and chronology, complaint records, and PDF court bundles or summary reports.

Everything stays on your own computer. Documents are copied into a local library, text recognition runs on your PC using the engine built into Windows, and nothing is uploaded anywhere.

  • Import anything — PDFs, photos, scans, Word and text files; originals never touched
  • Court form categories — C100, C1A, C2, FL401, FM1, CAFCASS docs, orders, statements and more
  • Search everything — including text inside scanned documents via Windows OCR
  • Notes on every page — plus whole-document notes
  • Parties & timeline — who's involved and what happened when
  • Complaints tracker — references and response deadlines
  • Court bundles — paginated PDF with cover, index and sections A–F (PD 27A style)
  • Summary reports — chronology and notes for a complaint or MP letter
  • Encrypted backups — single zip, optional AES-256
  • Password protection — encrypts every document and the database on disk
  • Store anywhere — default folder, external disk or network drive
  • Light & dark themes

Please note: CaseKeeper is a filing and organising tool. It does not give legal advice, and nothing it produces replaces advice from a solicitor, barrister or advice service.

Before you install

These apps are not digitally signed (yet).

Here's exactly what that means, why Windows may warn you or block the installer, and how to decide what to do — honestly and without shortcuts.

What code signing is

A code-signing certificate lets Windows confirm who published an app and that it hasn't been altered. Certificates cost money every year and require identity checks that are built around registered companies — a real hurdle for a one-person, free project.

What unsigned means

It does not mean an app is unsafe — it means Windows can't vouch for the publisher. Because these builds are new and unsigned, Windows hasn't built up a "reputation" for them, so its protections err on the side of caution.

How you can trust it

Instead of a certificate, you get full transparency: all of the source code is published for anyone to review or build themselves, every download has a SHA-256 checksum, and nothing in the apps phones home.

Windows 10 & 11

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen

You'll usually see a blue "Windows protected your PC" screen the first time you open an installer. This is a warning, not a block.

  1. Click More info.
  2. Check the file name matches what you downloaded.
  3. Click Run anyway and follow the installer.
Windows 11 only

Smart App Control (SAC)

Smart App Control is stricter. When it is On, Windows only allows apps that are signed with a trusted certificate or that Microsoft's cloud service predicts are safe. Unknown, unsigned apps are blocked outright — there is no "Run anyway" button.

If you see "Smart App Control blocked an app that may be unsafe", read the guide below.

Managing Smart App Control

Step 1 — Check which mode you're in

Open Start → search Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control settings. You'll see one of three modes:

OnEnforcing. Unsigned DarkCipher0x apps will be blocked.
EvaluationWindows is watching how you use your PC to decide whether SAC suits you. Apps are not blocked in this mode — you should be able to install normally (SmartScreen may still warn).
OffSAC isn't running. You'll only see the SmartScreen warning described above.

Step 2 — Decide whether to change it

If SAC is On, the only way to run unsigned software is to switch Smart App Control Off. Please weigh this up before you do it:

  • What you keep — Microsoft Defender Antivirus, SmartScreen, firewall and all other Windows Security protections stay on.
  • What you lose — the extra layer that blocks unknown and unsigned apps, scripts and macros before they run.
  • Can I turn it back on? — on newer Windows 11 builds, yes: you can switch SAC off and on again from the same settings page. On older builds, turning it off is one-way and re-enabling it requires Reset this PC or a clean install.
  • Not comfortable? — that's completely fine. Leave SAC on, and check back once the apps are signed. You can still read the source code in the meantime.

Step 3 — Turn it off (only if you choose to)

  1. In Smart App Control settings, select Off.
  2. Read the Windows prompt carefully — if it says the change can't be undone without reinstalling, that applies to your build.
  3. Confirm, then run the installer again. Click More info → Run anyway if SmartScreen appears.
  4. If your Windows build supports it, you can return to the same page and switch SAC back On later — but note this will also block the installed app from running again.

Managed or work PC? Smart App Control is turned off automatically on devices enrolled in enterprise management, and your IT team may use App Control for Business instead. Don't change security settings on a computer you don't own — ask your administrator.

Disclaimer

Provided as-is, use at your own risk.

Every release is tested before it's published, and all of the source code is public on the Source Code page so anyone can review exactly what it does. Even so, these apps are free, open-source software in active development (beta), released under the MIT License, which means they come without any warranty of any kind.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DarkCipher Systems / DarkCipher0x is not liable for any lost or corrupted data, damage to your system, or any other loss arising from downloading, installing or using this software. You use it at your own risk.

  • Back up first: keep copies of anything important before installing or upgrading. Both apps have built-in backup tools; use them regularly.
  • Not professional advice: CaseKeeper is an organising tool, not legal advice, and WhisperDesk's analysis features are indicators, not forensic proof.
  • Found a problem? Please report it so it can be fixed for everyone.
Stay safe

Verify before you run.

Whatever you decide about Smart App Control, these steps confirm you have the genuine, untampered file.

Download from this site only

Official builds are only published here and linked from the DarkCipher0x channels. Re-uploads elsewhere aren't official.

Check the SHA-256 checksum

In PowerShell run Get-FileHash .\WhisperDesk-1.4.2-x64.msi (use your file name) and compare it with the hash in the download box above — click the hash to copy it. They must match exactly.

Scan it

Right-click the file → Show more options → Scan with Microsoft Defender. You can also upload it to an online multi-engine scanner if you'd like a second opinion.

Review the code

Every line is on the Source Code page. Developers can build the apps themselves from that source instead of using the installers.
