Support

Support DarkCipher Systems.

Everything DarkCipher Systems makes is free and open source, and it's staying that way. If you'd like to help the work carry on, there are lots of ways to do that, and an optional contribution is just one of them. You never have to.

A note from me

Why this page exists

DarkCipher Systems exists because I believe useful software should be available to everyone, not just to people who can afford another subscription. Everything I build here is free and open source, and I intend to keep it that way.

There's no obligation to donate. None at all.

If you use something I've made and it helps you, that already means a great deal to me. Honestly, it's the best part of doing this.

If you believe in what I'm building and you'd like to help with the time, servers and tools that go into developing and maintaining these projects, there are plenty of ways to do that further down this page.

You'll never be expected to pay for DarkCipher Systems software, and donating will never unlock anything other people don't get. Choosing not to donate will never change what you can use, and someone who never donates is every bit as welcome here as someone who does.

Using the software, reporting a bug, sending a fix, suggesting an improvement, sharing a project with someone who needs it, or simply telling me that something helped: all of those support this work too, and I appreciate every one of them.

Thank you for being part of it.

Support the work

What a contribution helps with.

These projects are built in my own time, on my own hardware. They carry on either way; support simply makes it easier to give them more time and better tools.

Continued development

New features and new versions of WhisperDesk, CaseKeeper, ServerDeploy and the apps still on the workbench.

Maintenance & bug fixes

Fixing what you report, keeping up with Windows and driver updates, and keeping older releases working.

Testing

Test machines, virtual servers and different GPUs, so the apps work on more setups than just mine.

Hosting & online services

This website's server, the domain, download bandwidth and the services that keep it private and secure.

Tools & infrastructure

The development tools, build machines and infrastructure behind every release.

Future FOSS projects

More free, open-source tools for the community, built to run on your own hardware.

Voluntary contribution

Support continued development.

When financial contributions are available, they're a voluntary gift towards the work and the philosophy behind it, never a payment for software.

  • Nothing is unlocked and nothing changes in the apps.
  • Any amount is appreciated, and so is no amount.
  • You finish on the payment provider's own secure page. This site never sees your card details or payment logins.
  • This site keeps no record of who contributes.

Make a voluntary contribution

Completely optional. Please only contribute if you genuinely want to and are comfortably able to.

Other ways to support

Money is only one way to help.

Every one of these makes a real difference to an independent open-source project, and none of them costs anything.

> Use the software

Seriously. People using it is why it exists. Get the apps.

> Report bugs

Every report makes the next release better for everyone. Report a bug.

> Suggest improvements

Ideas from real use shape what gets built next. Suggest a feature.

> Contribute code

The full source is MIT-licensed. Build it, fix it, fork it, and send improvements back. Source code.

> Improve the docs

Spotted something unclear or missing in the wiki? Tell me and it gets fixed.

> Share a project

Know someone a tool could help, like a streamer, a parent in court or a sysadmin? Send them the link.

> Give feedback

Honest, constructive feedback is gold. Chat in The Cipher Collective Discord.

> Tell me it helped

A quick message that something made a difference genuinely makes my day. Drop into a live stream or the Discord.

The promise

Free and open source, whatever you decide.

DarkCipher Systems applications remain free and open source whether or not you donate. There are no premium features hidden behind donations, no "supporter edition", and no expectation that anyone financially supports the project.

  • Every app stays free to download and use.
  • The source stays open under the MIT License.
  • Donors don't get a better or different version.
  • No donation prompts inside the apps.
  • Never donating is completely fine.
